Rugby is a now a popular sport in many countries of the world.it is usually called Rugby or Rugger. Rugby is said to have originated at Rugby school in Warwickshire, England, in 1823 when during a game of football William Webb Ellis decided to pick up a ball and running with it.in 1863 a collection a boarding schools and clubs decided upon a rule set and 1871 Rugby football union was officially formed.
After that, the first final of the rugby world cup was played in 1987 in between New Zealand and France.
Rugby is called a gentlemen’s sport
Rugby has always been known as a brute sport played by gentlemen and many people find that hard to comprehend. Why rugby is a gentlemen’s sport is because one of the important skills that you need to succeed here is discipline.
Rugby team and team structures
There are two main types of rugby. Such as rugby league and rugby union. The one that will be played at the world cup is rugby union. Two teams play in an 80 minutes match and oval ball to try to score more points than other team. In rugby, each team begins with 15 players on the side. Players are divided into 7 backs and 8 forwards. Accordingly, they position at the ground as follows.
- Forwards
The primary responsibilities of forwards are to earn and retain ball possession. That players are generally stronger and bigger, and they take part in the line out and scrum.
- Front row
There are three front row comprises of three players. Such as one tighthead prop, one loosehead prop and the hooker.
- Second row
There are the tallest players in the side and are also specialized lineout jumpers. They are called as “locks’’

- Back row
The back row is the third and final row of forward spots and they are often called the loose forwards. This spot also offers a link between the back and forwards in attacking phases.
- Backs
The primary responsibility of the backs is to convert and create point-scoring opportunities. Normally they are smaller but more agile and faster.
- Half-backs
There are two positions. Those are First Five-Eighth and scrum-half. The first five-eighth is very important in the game plan of the team.
- Three quarters
There are 4 three quarter spots. Such as outside centers, second five-eighth and right and left wings.
- Full backs
Fullback generally stays several meters behind the back line. A good kicking game and dependable catching skills are the most important attributes of a good fullback.
Points
The team with the most points t full-time wins the game. If the scores are equal it is a draw. If a winner has to be found, say for a cup competition, extra time will be played.
Players can run and kick the ball but can only pass it backwards. There are four methods to get points as below.

Rules
Those rules are most important, and this rule aims to keep injuries to a minimum. Ignoring this rule is cowardly, it may result in serious injury to yourself or other players.

- Obstructing opponents
- Punching, trampling, kicking or tripping players
- Tackling too early, too late, above the shoulders
- Tacking a player when they are in the air
- Doing anything which is unfair or dangerous

As of today, rugby is played throughout the world. Rugby is estimated to be the ninth most popular sport in the world.no country is banning this game, making it widely accepted. The word cup league is played every four years and the 2019 Rugby World Cup is hold in Japan.
